Take a seat on the stoep

Get the farm-like stoep (veranda) look

Things you get in scrap yards and farm dumping sites can turn out to be very valuable in creating a cosy farm-like veranda look. This stoep (veranda) turned out this style totally by accident because the furniture and ornaments were gathered over years and received as alternative gifts from friends to their “weird” friend.

The tractor chair had no use when it was collected from the dumping site but a pedestal was made for it and now this chair has a purpose and contributes to the farm-like look of this veranda (stoep).

The old garden shed tools from my farther’s first garden makes a nice display to complement the look of the rest of the stoep (veranda).

The old tin type colander and dairy container lids used on dairy farms many years ago  from many a granny’s and aunt’s house have no money value but makes nice containers for succulents on the stairs from the stoep (veranda) to the swimming pool.

A creative friend made me this painting with a special message on corrugation found on older buildings as a gift that fits perfect under this grape arbor to enlarge the sitting area.

This purple bench used to be a cast iron bed’s head piece but the bed was broken and an innovative neighbour of my grandparents turned this into a bench.  Painted in purple and with the handmade pillow by my grandmother on it it is a nice focal point on our farm-like stoep (veranda).

This hub of an old wooden wagon has no use in modern times but as door stop it serves a purpose and completes the look on our farm-like veranda (stoep).

An old rusted look tin toolbox (trunk) serves as valuable container for all our barbecue equipment such as the charcoal and wood.

Pallets used to dispatch bricks was stacked to serve as an extra serving table on the farm-like stoep and nowadays people make wonderful furniture from these wooden pallets.

Old and rusted ewers found on a dumping site  by an uncle of mine was passed on to me and also has a purpose as succulent containers on our farm-like veranda (stoep) and it helps to create the rustic and old fashioned look on our outside living space.
